Electronic voice phenomenon: Eight (see below). The EVPs are a few seconds in length; some are heard plainly, and some are softer. Investigation 2:
Private residence in Atwater, CA on 02.21.09
Investigators: Mike James, Barry Crocker, Becky Duxbury, Katherine, and Eric LaSalle
Claims: The client and a few individuals who visited the home all experienced a variety of activity. There was a reported general sense of unease within a certain guest bedroom, objects being moved to different locations, footsteps in the hallway when no one else was in the home, and a bedroom door that seemingly closed by itself.
Photo Evidence: Two digital cameras were used extensively throughout the night with no evidence being found.
Video Evidence: Four IR cameras and a hand held digital camera were used but no evidence was produced.
Audio Evidence: Several digital audio recorders were used; some were stationary and some were carried during the entire investigation. Though there were numerous odd sounds that were heard, we were able to dismiss all but eight as being possible EVP's. Those are posted below.
Other Evidence: Twice during the evening our investigators experienced unexplained, momentary EMF spikes. Once in the guest bedroom and once in the living room. We were unable to track down any abnormal EMF readings in the home that could help explain some of the client's experiences. We also took constant temperature reading using digital thermometers and utilized a K2 meter but failed to capture any further evidence with these devices.
Personal Experiences: Many of our investigators had personal experiences during the night. While setting-up equipment, Katherine witnessed an orange ball of light that seemed to materialize in the living room and shoot down the hallway at knee-level. Barry and Mike individually (during different times and in different locations) experienced a cold sensation on the backs of their necks when not near any source of air movement, or near other individuals. At one point in the evening Becky felt a sensation like someone was running a finger along the bottom of her shoe while she was seated in the client's bedroom. A few hours later in the guest bedroom, Katherine experienced the same sensation. Lastly, while Becky and Katherine were investigating the client's bedroom they heard what sounded like footsteps in the hallway (this was not caught on any of our recording devices).
Debunking: The team was only able to disprove the claims of a bedroom door closing by itself. We discovered that this was due to how the door was hung and simple air movement.
Summary: M.C.P.I. considers this location to have paranormal activity. Some of the EVP's we captured lead us to believe that there was intelligent activity in the home though we were unable to verify this due to a lack of any proven interaction.
